The Road Back
In 1999, twenty-eight years after I entered a cult, at the intense urging of a songwriter friend, I entered a church in Nashville, Tennessee. Much to my surprise, the thing I had searched for more than 20 years was waiting for me. I finally walked into the real Presence of God. My wife and I stayed in the back of that church every Sunday for 8 weeks crying. God was real and we had found Him.
I had grown up in a Christian family in Dallas, Texas. My parents spent every Wednesday and Sunday in church. But something kept me from staying in the church – and that was the fear of the end rather than the love of Christ.
I went on to great success, earning triple platinum CDs, gold records, a Grammy nomination, and appearing in teen films in the 1980s. I managed to avoid the seductions of drugs and life in the midst of the Hollywood scene – however, a greater enemy lured me in from that place of fear – and I actually believed I was following Jesus Christ – my deception was so great.
More than seven years have passed since my road back began. I‘ve had much un-learning to do, and I continue to grow in God‘s Word and experience the amazing relationship that is in the Lord. I am definitely not there yet – but it‘s Christ in me that will do this work.

A Pastor of God came to meet with me, and the Lord told him I am a miracle. I don‘t feel like a miracle but I guess the miracle will happen as I share my testimony and help others to avoid what I endured. There are many things I‘ve read in the Word that would have kept me from making the mistake I made, however, I wasn‘t as informed of the Word of God as I thought I was. I‘d like to help you and your kids understand so that you will not fall into the clutches of the enemy.
